Small businesses are the backbone of this country and as a small business owner I value the love and support of both my clients but also local businesses and charities. Here are a handful of the local businesses and charities that I am proud to support and with whom I collaborate with.
Dementia Friends – I am passionate about improving the lives of those that are living with Dementia, and as such I have become a Dementia Friends Champion. If you would like to know more about how you can help improve the lives of those who are living with Dementia and to reduce the stigma surrounding Dementia, then I am able to offer Information Awareness Sessions. These can be done virtually, or once allowed, face to face, normally to groups of up to 15 people. So if you would like to know more then please contact me to arrange a session.
Hypo Hounds – A Kent charity training dogs to work with Type 1 Diabetic children, which result in less hospitalisation and better quality of life for not only the child but also the whole family. By leaving a gift in your Will to Hypo Hounds through SLS Wills and More, we will pledge to gift 10% of our charges to Hypo Hounds now. For more information about Hypo Hounds, please download a leaflet here.
I belong to several networking groups made up of other small business owners and we help to support each other. By supporting our local businesses, we are helping to support our local communities, and I am a firm believer in supporting the local community. So check out the groups that I support, as you may just find that business you have been looking for. These are all organisations that I have got to know, like and trust
Aylesham Business Network – my own local community, which we are in the process of setting up. We have a fantastic range of businesses within our community.
Thanet Premier Business Group – again a number of local businesses based in Thanet, who have been a big support to me when I first started.
Thanet Lunchtime Networking – although a Thanet based group, these are other business owners that have also been a big support to me.
Ageless Thanet – a social enterprise initiative to support those over the age of 50. As an ‘Age Friendly’ business, I am pleased to be part of this initiative which supports older people within the community of Thanet.
Ladies Who Latte– a national network of groups of women business owners, who meet once a month for a coffee (or any other beverage that they may like) to support each other, and I have met some lovely ladies who are running their own unique businesses. I have made friends with ladies in Sandwich, Dover, Folkestone and Canterbury and the wide spread of different businesses is fantastic!
4Networking – another national network, this is a fantastic community of business owners, and again I have made lots of new contacts with different businesses.
Legacy in Wills Scheme
This is a new initiative I am setting up whereby whenever a client includes a gift to the small local charities in their Will, I will donate 10% of the cost to the client to charity now, and they will then benefit at some point in the future with a gift when the client passes on. If you would like to know more about charitable gifting in your Will, and how it helps the charities now and in the future, as well as perhaps helping your family (by reducing the amount of Inheritance Tax that might be payable), then please talk to me about how I can help.
If you’re a local business or charity and would like to collaborate and support each other then please reach out and collectively we can help more people.
