Sad news emerged today from Buckingham Palace as HRH Prince Philip has passed away.
Losing a loved one is never easy but when it’s your spouse and you’ve been married for over 70 years I imagine it’s even harder.
Having been in private practice dealing with estates and probate for over 30 years we often support people who have been grieving over the loss of a loved one whilst trying to sort out their affairs.
In the past, we have written articles about what probate (or estate administration) is and what the responsibilities of an executor are but sometimes it’s just too raw and painful.
If you’re dealing with the loss of someone close and you’re responsible (as the executor or personal representative) for applying for the grant of probate or letters of administration, we’re happy to step in and support.
It might be that you’d like someone to hold your hand through the process, in which case, we can support. You might just need pointing in the right direction – we can do this too.
For some, it’s still too much. In which case, we can take the weight off of your shoulders completely. We can take over, draw in assets, close accounts, deal with the relevant parties and wind up the estate. Whenever we do this, we have a chat with you about what’s involved and give you cost.
You can then make an informed decision as to the level of support required.
The most important thing for us is that you know where to turn and don’t allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the responsibility.
SLS Wills and More believe first and foremost in guidance, support and professionalism. We were highly commended in the British Wills and Probate Awards for this very reason.
