No. Our office is in Kent and we meet many clients in person locally, but we work with clients across England and Wales by video and telephone.

Will writing is not formally regulated in the same way as solicitors (the Solicitors Regulation Authority). SLS Wills and More chooses to be voluntarily self-regulated by the Society of Will Writers and follows their Code of Practice. Sara Sheppard is a full member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), a Fellow of the Society of Will Writers, and currently serves as SWW Regional Chair for Kent and Vice-Chair of the SWW Professional Standards Board. This means higher standards of training, ongoing development, and accountability than the law strictly requires.

For a straightforward Will, we usually go from first consultation to signed document within two to three weeks. More complex matters take longer because they need more thought, but we always agree a timetable with you up front.

Yes. Wills can and should be updated when your circumstances change. We offer a free Will review for any Will we have written, and a paid review service for Wills written elsewhere.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that lets you choose who makes decisions for you if you lose the ability to make them yourself. Most adults benefit from having both types: one for property and finances, one for health and welfare. Without an LPA, your family may need to apply to the Court of Protection, which is slower, more expensive and more stressful.

A simple Will is usually drafted within one to two weeks of the consultation. Signing happens at your convenience, either in our office or by post. Trusts, LPAs and Inheritance Tax planning take longer because there is more to consider.
