A Single Basic Will starts at £120 including VAT. Mirror Wills for couples, more Complex Wills involving trusts, and Wills with Inheritance Tax planning are quoted individually. We always confirm a price in writing before any work starts.

Yes. There is no charge for the initial consultation and no obligation to proceed. If you decide you want us to draft documents or give specific advice, we provide a written quote first.

No. Our office is in Kent and we meet many clients in person locally, but we work with clients across England and Wales by video and telephone.

No. Will writing is not formally regulated in the same way as solicitors (the SRA). SLS Wills and More chooses to be voluntarily regulated by the Society of Will Writers and follows their Code of Practice. Sara is a Trust and Estate Practitioner through STEP and a Fellow of the Society of Will Writers, which means higher standards of training, ongoing development, and accountability than the law strictly requires. Where a matter requires a solicitor, we have a network of trusted firms we can refer you to.

Online Wills are templates. They will not ask the questions your circumstances need asking, they will not stop you appointing the wrong executor, and they will not catch the drafting error that lets a gift fail on death. If the template is wrong, you will not find out — your family will, when it is too late to fix.

For a straightforward Will, we usually go from first consultation to signed document within two to three weeks. More complex matters take longer because they need more thought, but we always agree a timetable with you up front.

Yes. Wills can and should be updated when your circumstances change. We offer a free Will review for any Will we have written, and a paid review service for Wills written elsewhere.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document that lets you choose who makes decisions for you if you lose the ability to make them yourself. Most adults benefit from having both types: one for property and finances, one for health and welfare. Without an LPA, your family may need to apply to the Court of Protection, which is slower, more expensive and more stressful.
