Charity and community

Charity and community.

A small firm with a charity habit. We donate a percentage of every Will, and we work directly with charities on legacy giving.

Why charity matters

Why charity matters to SLS.

Estate planning is one of the few professions where every client conversation touches on legacy. We see, every week, how a thoughtful plan can support a family, a community, or a cause that mattered to someone.

We donate to charity ourselves, and we make it easier for clients to do the same. The point is not the marketing of it; the point is the gifts reach the charities our clients care about.

The 5% donation

The 5% donation programme.

Throughout 2026, SLS donates 5% of the cost of every Will we write to charity. The default beneficiaries are Community Driving School and the Loving Legacies Foundation, with allocation rotating each quarter.

Where a client chooses to leave a charitable legacy in their Will, we donate a further 5% to the charity of their choice.

Working with charities

Working with charities directly.

We support charity legacy giving programmes by helping their supporters write a Will, often at preferential rates, and by ensuring legacies are correctly drafted, registered and traceable. If you run a charity that supports clients with Will-writing or probate questions, get in touch.

Sara's involvement

Sara's personal involvement.

Sara takes a personal interest in the firm's charity programme. She reviews the rotating list of partners each quarter and meets the team at Community Driving School CIC and Loving Legacies Foundation CIC regularly to discuss what the partnership is and is not delivering.

Local Business Directory

Supporting local businesses is another strand of our community involvement. Our free Local Business Directory features trusted Kent-based businesses handpicked by our community, some of them SLS Approved.
