An attorney must be over 18 and have mental capacity. They must agree to act and they take on legal duties under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Multiple attorneys can be appointed, jointly (all together for every decision), severally (any one of them can act), or jointly for some decisions and severally for others.
Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
A legal document giving chosen attorneys authority to make decisions for the person who made it, used if the person loses capacity to decide for themselves.
Deputy
